Frequently Asked Questions

How is training with Julio CSCS different from other personal trainers?

Every person is unique, therefore, your personal training plan is completely individualized to your abilities and to help you reach your goals. Instead of being stuck in the same gear the entire time (i.e. HIIT or slow steady state), workouts are designed to keep your body guessing, thereby, producing the best results to gain strength, and muscular and cardiovascular endurance. Coach Julio is also aware that there may be some things he might miss during your training sessions, therefore, he utilizes post-workout video analysis to spot other areas in need of improvement, in which corrections can be made for subsequent personal training sessions. Additionally, your personal trainer will teach you simple, yet hugely effective advice on healthy eating, which are not overwhelmingly demanding and allow you to enjoy foods you love.

Best of all, your workouts are creations stemming from Coach Julio's expertise as a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist and experience as a former collegiate athlete, along with input from professional and collegiate strength & conditioning coaches and physical therapists in Coach Julio's network, so it's like having a massive network of top exercise specialists to help you accomplish your goals.

Can you help me with my diet?

Yes! Coach Julio recently obtained his Master of Science degree in Nutrition with a PERFECT 4.0 grade point average! He is ready to answer your nutrition questions and guide you with expert nutrition counseling. No other trainer in all of El Paso offers this much nutrition expertise.

How can working with a personal trainer benefit me?

A consistent exercise regimen is paramount in leading a healthy lifestyle, but what comes first is learning to exercise with proper technique. Our personal training is customized to your individual needs and abilities.

Is learning proper technique that important? I want my results, ASAP!

Yes! Coach Julio is dedicated to helping you reach all of your fitness goals in the safest way possible. Proper technique will help you get the greatest benefit of each exercise and prevent chronic injuries that are, unfortunately, all too common at the gym because of poor form, such as knee, shoulder and lower back injuries.

What is the benefit of video analysis? I've never encountered a personal trainer in El Paso that does that.

Coach Julio emphasizes a constant pursuit of polishing his clients' exercise technique, as well as his own method of teaching technique. Video analysis allows Julio to confirm errors he suspected, as well as spotting mistakes he may have missed during training sessions, along with helping him improve upon verbal cues for future training sessions.

Utilizing video analysis is common practice for strength & conditioning coaches at the collegiate and professional level, but not something that is widely used by personal trainers at commercial gyms because of the increased workload upon the trainer. Coach Julio sees more value in spending additional hours to analyze video and make necessary corrections over allowing his personal training clients to continue with poor form.

I have quite a few injuries; how can 365 Physique help me?

Each client is unique, therefore, a fitness consultation is needed to properly assess the extent of your injuries. Minor aches and pains are common, and, typically, do not present a substantial barrier that greatly sidelines a workout regimen. In case it is a major injury that prevents you from doing simple, body weight-only or very lightweight exercises, we would recommend you to see a physical therapist, chiropractor or other type of specialist that can help rehabilitate those injuries before we can get to work. When it comes to your fitness, safety always comes first.

Why so cautious when it comes to injuries?

Here is an analogy-- imagine that you are going to embark upon a cross-country road trip, but your car's "Check Engine" light is on. You might be able to drive all over the country without your car breaking down, but you know your car is not performing optimally, and you're running the risk of making the engine's problems much worse or being stranded in the middle of the desert, thus sidelining you from the road trip and having to pay exponentially more for repairs.

Or, you can take your car to the mechanic to fix the problem, and enjoy your road trip without taking such a great risk, while having your car performing at its optimal level.

Coach Julio firmly believes that addressing and rehabilitating injuries takes precedence to get the best results from each workout. It is our firm belief that taking a few weeks to rehabilitate an injury, now, is a far wiser decision than attempting to force through it and spending months to fix a much more severe injury in the future.

Why is lifting weights beneficial for me?

Resistance training is consistently shown to be beneficial for individuals of all ages. The most obvious benefit is gaining muscular strength and endurance, but studies have also indicated that it can reduce loss of bone mass and, possibly, strengthen bones.

I don't want to look like a bodybuilder; can this be avoided?

This is a common misconception about lifting weights. Building substantial muscle size is a slow process that requires a very specialized training protocol and incredibly disciplined dietary/lifestyle habits, and, yes, some bodybuilders use performance enhancing drugs. Some people are genetically more capable of naturally growing muscle size faster than others, but not to the extreme that you would look like Mr. Olympia in a couple of weeks.

I want to improve my endurance, but find cardio workouts so boring.

If you think that having great cardiovascular endurance requires spending endless hours running on the treadmill, you are greatly mistaken. There are a plethora of cardiovascular workouts that can improve your endurance, and, as a former collegiate athlete and Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist and Certified Personal Trainer, Coach Julio applies his competitive experience and knowledge of the latest advances in exercise physiology and training techniques to help you in ways no other personal trainer in El Paso can!

I want to work out with a personal trainer, but it seems expensive.

Coach Julio is here to help every person in El Paso to be at their healthiest, which is why he shares his knowledge for free with his blogs and videos. Got a question? You can always feel free to reach out via phone, email or social media, and he will respond as quickly as he can, or you can make an appointment to meet at Versatile Fitness to go over a possible training plan or workout for a trial session, all at no cost!

A training package with 365 Physique is far more than simply having a trainer standing over you and counting your repetitions. Every training session is individualized to each person's fitness goals and abilities. Also, you will be given additional workouts that you can do on your own that are specifically for you, in which Coach Julio will keep you accountable to doing. Additionally, you will be given dietary advice to ease you into adopting healthy eating habits that you will love.

Am I going to be left really sore after every workout?

Muscle soreness is a common side effect of working, particularly for those that have not exercised extensively for a considerable amount of time. Coach Julio understands that you have a busy life outside of the gym, which is why he puts this into consideration when developing your training plan. Muscle soreness is commonly misconstrued as a determinant of a workout's effectiveness, which is incorrect. Our aim is to help you achieve the best results and reach your fitness goals, instead of working you to death, just to get you sore.
